EE4510 Advanced electromagnetics
Topics: Analysis of wireless links and transmission lines
This is an advanced course in electromagnetics, which will provide an understanding of the wireless link between a transmitting and receiving antenna, and
basic understanding of the impact of radiation and ohmic losses at high frequencies of transmission lines.
- Ohmic losses at high frequencies
- Potentials and Green's functions
- Image theorem
- Fields radiated by sources in the far field region
- Equivalence and reciprocity theorems
- Antennas in transmission and reception
- Green's function of infinite line source
- Application case: quasi-analytic analysis of transmission lines at high frequencies
Education Method
The course consists on- Theoretical lectures on the basic physical mechanisms and how to analyse them via EM analytical techniques
- Practical Instructions to get familiar with such techniques
- Study of an application case
